Joe Biden praises energetic new PM Anthony Albanese for jumping on a plane to Tokyo immediately after winning the election: 'If you fall asleep while you're here, it's OK' Joe Biden praises Anthony Albanese for staying awake in Tokyo

NEW Joe Biden has praised Anthony Albanese 's energy after the new Prime Minister flew to Tokyo for a Quad leaders' summit on his first day in the job. The US President, who famously fell asleep during the COP26 climate summit in Glasgow last year, told Mr Albanese: 'If you fall asleep while you're here, it's OK'.

Nice one, leaves us here in the flood rain while he flits off to summer weather in Tokyo... typical politician

Oh come on Suze that sounds stupid.

The Leader of the country has important issues to deal with on an international scale, we have other people that have been given the responsibilities to deal with issues like that.

Here in WA we often get forgotten by the rest of Australia and we have to deal with the issues ourselves it is a very sore point for Sand groupers for years now we get left behind and the EAST gets the majority of TLC.

This brings to mind a few years back when we had no electricity for ages, but if that happens over EAST for say a week you all cry in your soup.

What I was angry with is that the PM and his Deputy get one salary fine thats fair enough.

But then looking at the Finance Minister and the Foreign Minister they both get a lot less than those males with the same responsibilities, now that makes me angry.

Males should never ever have a higher salary than a female for the same work.

On the topic of Australia and our Prime Ministers not particularly this one in question but all of them over the at least 20 years.

The Plane that they fly out on and represent Australia is pretty terrible.

I would like to see at Least a BIG name of AUSTRALIA painted on it and a map of our country.

But all I see is a dull grey thing!

The plane could have come from anywhere.

Could it be a security thing? Have those who wish to harm the PM, turn it to a guessing game on what plane he is on. Lets face it a lot of big wigs like to fly flash, big planes (look at Air Force One), flashy interiors (private planes). So a low profile is good thing if this is the reason why.

OF course she will be fine, Albo will parachute her into another job.

she? cartoon referring to Chris Bowen. No mention of KK.

I must say I was disgusted by the way the Media treated Anthony Albanese during the campaign. When he held press conferences he was continually shouted down, he wasn't able to give a fair answer and I don't blame him for walking away in disgust. These so called reporters should go back to University and learn the art of interviewing. Even when people are going to court, these bad mannered reporters are seen shoving microphones into their faces demanding "Did you kill your Father?"

Anthony Albanese's mother Maryanne Ellery (right) on the cruise ship Fairsky with the handsome Italian steward Carlo Albanese (standing, left) who secretly fathered her only son.

After his mother's death in 2002, Mr Albanese decided that even if he had not felt he needed his father in his life, it was time to find him. He had little more to go on than his mother's black-and-white photo of the two of them on the Fairsky and a suspicion Carlo came from Naples. The company that owned the Fairsky, SITMAR, had been bought by P&O, which was in turn taken over by Carnival Cruises, and Mr Albanese knew Carnival's CEO Ann Sherry. It was November 5, 2009 when he got a message from Ann Sherry ... "I've found him," she said. With the help of the Australian Embassy in Rome Anthony finally met his father for the first time a few weeks later.

Anthony and Carlo Albanese met one last time in December 2013, with Carlo dying from cancer a month later after telling his oldest child that 'he was glad we'd found each other'

Full story.

Thanks for posting that RnR  I would have missed it as I have not been on the computer much today.

Good to see his background.

A lot of hanky panky goes on on these cruise ships!

They did this story on the ABC a couple of years ago on Australian Story.  I thought it was very brave of him talking about it.. The same thing happened to a friend of mine in the 60's. Traveling to England on a steam ship, my friend met and fell in love with one of the passengers. Needless to same she became pregnant and had the baby in England and had the baby adopted out. Neither the Father of the child or her parents ever knew anything about it. It goes on all the time.

Anthony Albanese leaves the park and Toto for a theatre date with girlfriend Jodie Haydon as they wait for 'Squat Morrison' to move out of Kirribilli House a WEEK after election loss 'while he renovates his family home' Anthony Albanese goes on a date while he waits for Scott Morrison to move out of

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese (pictured left) was spotted taking a stroll near his Marrickville home, in Sydney's inner west, on Sunday morning after arriving back from the Quad Summit in Tokyo earlier this week. Opting for a casual jersey and jeans for the walk, the PM then went home and changed into a dapper suit to take Ms Haydon to the Belvoir Street Theatre to watch Wayside Bride. Meanwhile, Scott Morrison was seen getting into his car at Kirribilli House (right) - the second official residence of the prime minister after the lodge in Canberra - to head to his church in the Sutherland Shire for the 9.30am service. Despite being dethroned more than a week ago, the Morrisons have remained at the harbourside mansion and are yet to hand the keys over to Mr Albanese, who is now the rightful tenant. Nikki Durant, the Morrisons' onetime-pool cleaner, told Daily Mail Australia the family may not be moving back to their modest-three bedroom home in Port Hacking for a while as they have renovation plans.

Have you heard ScoMo's new nick-name ? - "Squat Morrison" because he is still entrenched in Kirribilli House and could be there for longer because he has plans to renovate his Port Hacking home. He should be given his marching orders now and move into a rental like most of would have to do.

Is Albo's wife Carmel Tebbutt ? going to move in to the Kirribilli house with them ??

Hola

Perhaps Albo has leased the house to Scomo ???

Hola,

As usual, Slomo is taking his time to do the right thing by others.

Couple of motor mouths blabbing about something they have no knowledge. Scotty helped a family out by letting them use his house because their's was unlivable after the flood. That is the cause of the delay. Shows what a kind hearted Christian Scott is.

Lucca,

The Morrisons's let a former employee, Nicki Durant, (the flood victim you mention) stay at their  house.

She had worked for them ... known well by them.

Axel -thank you for clearing that up. We all know who the motor mouth is.

Interesting. I read in several articles that the Morrison's are wanting to renovate their home in Lilli Pilli before moving back in. If they have flood victims living there they could move back in with them....why not? Many families are currently sharing their homes with flood victims.

pretty much every economist agrees the tax system needs reform and yet the majority of the population is content for the economy to tread water at best, but more likely deteriorate. So we kick the tin down the road for future us to deal with and all because we are afraid to have an adult conversation that will result in change. Good start will be to dust off the 2010 Henry Review and update it. Question is whether the new government has the appetite for it as it will almost certainly be opposed by the coalition.

Could Anthony Albanese be about to DITCH the Queen? New Prime Minister's major move that could see Australia become a republic

Anthony Albanese has raised eyebrows by appointing an 'assistant minister for the republic', raising the prospect of Australia ditching the Queen as head of state.

Great Celia

Now Scomo can have a job :)

China is so bxxxy rude.

China issues an ominous threat to Anthony Albanese not to repeat Scott Morrison's 'mistakes' - as communist superpower calls out Australia's 'blind support of the US'

The China Daily encouraged Australia's new Prime Minister not to make the same mistakes as Scott Morrison and look to heal the relationship between the two countries.

Government ministers have engaged Woodside in discussions about supplying LNG to Australia’s east coast as market prices spike.

Woodside has undertaken a $63 billion merger with BHP Petroleum, doubling its production and granting it a 50 per cent stake in the Bass Strait oil and pipeline gas which supplies natural gas to Tasmania.

The company is also planning on increasing gas supplies through a new import deal with Viva Energy.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says the government is engaging with the sector to see how it can alleviate pressure in the short term.

“(Resources Minister) Madeline King herself has been in contact with the big providers as well as Chris Bowen, the energy minister, was talking through with the sector (about) how we can alleviate the immediate real pressure on businesses and households,” he told the ABC.

Australians would be able to benefit from the export dollars from Woodside’s Scarborough gas project off the West Australian coast despite constrained domestic supply on the east coast, Mr Albanese says.

“We will continue to benefit from the export of our resources, the revenue of which goes in part to fund education and health and other services in our national economy.

“At the same time, Australia will of course change the energy mix we (and) can see that happening right now.”

The WA and federal government remain under pressure from the Greens, who are using their record showing at the federal election to push for an embargo on new gas and coal projects.

But Mr Albanese says while the cheapest form of new energy is renewables backed up by battery storage, gas will continue to play a role in the domestic energy mix as a “firming fuel”.

Further approvals of fossil fuel projects will be considered on their economic impact and a commercial analysis of the projects, Mr Albanese says.

“They’ll all be be judged on their merits,” he said.
