Australia Post's standards

12 years ago I started up an AFL tipping competition between family and friends. The winner would hold on to a trophy for a year with their name engraved on it. I would send the trophy to their home by Australia Post. It would be safely packed in a box with foam and bubble wrap And marked FRAGILE.

It was broken in transit and I bought another trophy.

This was just last year and now the same thing has happened again.

Is this the kind of service we can now expect from Australia Post?

If that is the case then it deserves to go broke.

Give the job to a company that provides care and great service!

It is the same with baggage controllers on airplanes.

Have you ever looked out an airplane window at the bags been loaded on a plane?

They are thrown on the ramp!

Last time I flew with a brand new case and had the wheels broken off at the first stop.

Has pride and service all but gone now in "the so called lucky country"?

And the post office are on strike for more wages?????

Are you kidding me ?

I just spoke to a friend in Tassy who received a parcel yesterday and the bottle inside was broken and leaked everywhere. it was completely wrapped in bubble wrap ??????????

Bletch

I got a parcel this morning ??

Strange if they are supposed to be on strike ??

I noticed earlier that you bumped a thread from 4 years ago ... now I cannot find it ??

Can you please bump it again so I can re read memories from the past

Thank you

funnily enough I have just had some communication with Australia Post, I ordered a parcel on MOnday it is now Thursday.

I received my parcel on Wednesday, yesterday.

It was from Brisbane and I am in Perth.

So this morning I received an email from Australia Post asking me what I felt about their efficiency?

I gave them top marks and filled in many other questions.

However, if you do not agree they have supplied this information for you to use and let them know what you feel.

Good luck

Not sure Suze did not know I had rebumped a thread from 4 years ago......did you know topic?

Obviously not all post offices give lousy service as with any business.

I am old school and believe in great service to the public as my mother would say, you treat people as you would want to be treated yourself.

Businesses can spend a fortune on advertising when the best advertising they can get is word of mouth.

Some people have no idea of service and I do not know how and why they were employed when someone who has not got a job would welcome the opportunity.

How often do you go to a checkout for example and the operator tells you the amount owed with no please or thank you at all?

I make the comment "Does it cost extra for manners here ?"

And also if I get bad service from a business I make it a point TO NEVER RETURN!

With the Australia Post I am unsure of what couriers or handlers they use to deliver parcels but I can imagine that some people would use the parcels as footballs!

We have been told that parcels marked as fragile get no extra care at all, so what is the point?

Regards

Bletch

You need to pack things really really well. Make sure the box or bag is stuffed firmly full with bubble wrap or similar so the contents can not bump around.

My gripe is the long delay with delivery in NSW and VIC due to Covid. There are parcels currently taking several weeks to be delivered. If they are so backlogged they should just refuse to accept more until their sorting centres are cleared out.

Australia Post is on the Governments radar for privatisation and we all know how well that works with the emphasis on profit. Could it be that service is allowed to run down to justify privatisation? Could the government be that sneaky?

I think the courier company Australia Post use is Fastway.

Several weeks ago I urgently needed a small item, but it wasn't available from the usual city shop. However the proprietor was very helpful and said that he would have it airfreighted Express Post from Sydney and the order went in immediately. Now, how earth it can take eight days to fly a tiny envelope-sized parcel from Sydney to Adelaide and then to be forwarded by road to my address near to the city, completely beats me. The fact that I paid the extra to get the item sent and delivered speedily didn't come into their calculations first or last. I missed out on the reason that I ordered the article. Express Post is a joke.
It also took 8 days to receive another small item posted on that same day to reach my local post office box. Not even to home delivery. The people at the local Post Office are just as hamstrung by Australia Post as are we, mere customers. Not good enough.

I am waiting for a letter posted Tuesday of last week today is Monday & I'm still waiting . It was posted from a suburb only 20min drive from where i live .Why does it take so long to come from  only a few Ks. away? Australia Post is not doing it's job.

O for the days when Aust post was "The Post Master Generals Department", and many letters had  "OHMS  endorsed on them. It stood for "On His/Her Majesty's Service."  Aust Post today  is just another Deliverer of items which are not considered important anyway.

I sent my son a parcel Express which was supposed to get to Melbourne within 12 hours, it turned up a week later, I actually paid extra for this service.  But isn't it marvellous we still get our bills , phone/gas/electricity/rates on exactly the days it is due??????

Must admit Hola we have not received any of our Accounts from those you have nominated for years now it is done on the computer.

I have so far no complaint by Australia Post, here I am in a suburb of Perth and have sent my son his birthday presents last month to 2161 an area of Sydney and the postman phoned him and he came out to the street and collected his parcel, I have no complaint with that very good.

I sent a friend a birthday card from Qld to SA. It was posted 2 weeks before her birthdate. It finally arrived 5 months later!! No apology or explanation was forthcoming.

I no longer send birthday cards or gifts via Aust Post.  I make a phone call. Or visit in person with a gift. They cannot be trusted.

Greeting Cards & Animated Ecards | Jacquie Lawson Cards

I send greetings electronically these days.

Post a parcel yesterday for my son in Sydney, it is expected just after Thursday here from WA.

I had forgotten to put his phone number on the package so two hours later I went back to the post office and said could they find the package and add the phone number?    Nothing was said, the lady at the desks started typing the tracking number into the system and then said after about two minutes, thats done!

Oh came my reply you don't have to find the package?

No she said with a smile, I guess I must have come across as a little old later not used to the modern post office.

I explained what a good service they did as when I placed my sons phone number on the packages I have sent to him the post man phones the number, my son answers and runs out to collect his parcel!   Cannot complain about that!

Have always had very good service from Australia Post. Ordered some items during the week ... the business uses another service ... pretty lacklustre so far, poor tracking details.

Yes RnR however, I have purchased some items from Easybuy they are out of NZ and they have taken six weeks to get to us in the West, then getting refunds back again when I return some items they are stuck on the plane and have not gone anywhere for a month!

That is too much money being tired up in some items that are not suitable, whos  issue is it I don't know but I won't be buying from Easybuy anymore.  They used to be very good. Some items are form NSW too. But when I purchase clothing for myself from Brisbane at Blue Bungalow or from NSW at Birdsnest they come to me here in WA within 3 to 4 days.

I used to get clothing for myself on line because I have found when you shop around WA you get copies of the same items in one store and the next so getting them out of NSW or Queensland is something different!

I put an order in at 9am on 24th from Victoria and it arrived at 3pm this  afternoon in all the rain in NSW

... must give full marks to AU POST for this parcel
