Aussie music icon set to embark on national tour

Legend of Australian music Jimmy Barnes is set to embark on a national 30th anniversary tour celebrating one of his highest-selling albums.

Released in 1991, Soul Deep was a collection of covers of soul music standards and featured duets with John Farnham and Diesel.

The album spawned the hits When Something Is Wrong With My Baby and Ain't No Mountain High Enough. The album has gone on to sell more than 700,000 copies and is Mushroom Records' highest-selling album of all time.

"I remember we presented the songs to [Mushroom founder] Michael Gudinski and Michael was worried: ‘Do you really want to put out a soul record? Everyone knows you as a rock singer,’” Barnes tells the Herald Sun.

"But like he always was, he said he’d back me."

Are you a Jimmy Barnes fan? Did you enjoy Soul Deep and will you be going to the anniversary tour?

Prefer classical music ... definitely not a Barne's fan

I have seen Jimmy a few times and he was great. I lived Soul Deep and I would go if it was near me

Jimmy combines with Sam Moore, now 86, to record the Sam and Dave classic “Soothe Me” to add to ‘Soul Deep 30’ anniversary tour.

Just brilliant IMO ... what do you think?

I am sorry but I cannot stand Jimmy Barnes' screaming. It's a wonder he still has a voice after all these years. His son David Campbell runs rings around the loud one.  I'm with you Suze, classical music soothes the soul.
