Asylum Seekers put up at 4 star motel in Queensland

SECRET detention centre at luxurious 4 star Palms Motel in suburban Brisbane in Wayne Swan's electorate. Local police and local residents not aware until morning news. Wouldn't it be easy to just walk away?

It's costing $1.2 million for 6 months.

Although I feel for anyone that is fair dinkum --and gone through suffering--I really think this has to stop--we are unable to support our own with water etc--and charity begins at home IMO

PlanB, I wonder if they sent tenders out to all the motels, bet they didn't. Wish I had a share in this motel.

Wonder how the homeless and the Aborigines feel.

Halve the numbers of homeless was it?

Build houses for our indigenous people?

All the transportable homes promised to the aborigines in the last budget built but have been sent off to Christmas Island already Koko.

As Ray Hagley said on 9 today show - what about those waiting for emergency accommodation here and Aussies born and bred for the most part living in their cars as no money for emergencies for them.

Where are the bleeding heart left wing lawyers being advocates for these people? Nowhere as no government is paying them to do it - unlike the Aboriginal victim Industry and the Refugee Industry who are well supported with money from taxpayers.

But not to worry all "died in the wool" Labor voters hate poor old Tony Abbott because - well a good job done on him by Howard with Pauline and now the media who seem to sex mad even in his life savers' uniform swiming costume - same style my hubbie wears - and so does every other old style Labor voter.

And so back in will come Rudd and they will suffer this time around as Ken Henry has this thing that age pensioners must be brought down to the same level of money as the dole along with stay at home mums as all "unproductive units"

Obviously only those already here can be unproductive units! Incoming boat people forcing us to take them and getting 89% of the dole day they hit the Christmas Island detention sign in centre are not unproductive.

Latest "buzz speak" for not "working families" whom Rudd has only time for - well apart from boat folk and anyone else who comes in and always votes left wing which means they always vote Labor.

Until of course they have sufficient numbers when they will have Islamic and other parties representing them and we will suffer the most - probably shoot everyone at age 65 or 67 then to save money. As they have recently done in Europe - Belgium to be exact - Labor MPs resigned became independent - then changed to represent Islamic Party - sneaky - not in their minds.

Quite a few hundred have been swopped over to the mainland now to ease the crush and one has to ask how much are they too costing the tax payer.

Not as much - seemingly according to Ken Henry - as those unproductive pensioners living on the fat of the land and taking money they don't deserve - they should have saved up for their retirement - denial of the fact that our generation was told pay your income taxes and a pension will be there for you.

And that super at 9% only started in what - 1992 and therefore only a 20 year old that year may just have enough to live on for a few years anyway before drawing down on the pension depemding on the cost of living then.

All the transportable homes promised to the aborigines in the last budget built but have been sent off to Christmas Island already Koko.

Truly appalling.

Funny isn't it, as you say, the emphasis on Abbott's swimwear, snide remarks about spending time riding for charity........ the colour of the lycra...... yet nary a mention of the real work he does in his own time, working with the Aborigines. Just shallow, superficial 'reporting' from most of our shallow superficial media... and generally contemptuous of Abbott because he doesn't fit a certain mold. Because that is what we've come to in this country it seems.

Bland, pc, robotic groupthink.

Old fashioned genuine Christian values as shown by someone like Abbott through action, not words......are passe. And yet, the hypocrisy of staging press conferences on a sunday morning on church steps with possibly the most shallow superficial person ever in the history of Australian politics.

Yes I agree also...Labor will get back in, because this is the level that much of the public is at.

Sure there are some who have seen through Rudd and his empty rhetoric, but many will vote Greens, which of course is a vote for Labor.

Unfortunately the bogans/troglydytes whose mind does not rise above football and beer, totally outnumber thinking people, and no prizes for guessing who they vote for.

I was under the impression that hostilities had ceased in Sri Lanka some time ago. The Tamils are indigines of southern India, which is only a short trip across the water. If they felt oppressed or in fear theycould undertake a much shorter boat trip and go back to their roots couldn't they. Oh! That's right..........No dole, no house, no job......understandably they want to come and stick their snouts into our trough. And forget not, these are the people that settled in Sri Lanka and then decided they wanted to secede and start their own state, thus causing a war (which they lost) Legend has it that they invented the suicide bomb?

At the rate that they breed is it inconceivable that in future times they make try the same thing here?

In my opinion they are not refugees, nor asylum seekers but straight out economic opportunists

My definition of a refugee is one who flees infear of his life to the nearest country where he will not be killed. There is no urgency here. , merely trading on Kevin Rudd's stupidity on cancelling John Howards solution.

Yes, he was "going to take a tough line with boat people." Scuse me while I go and upchuck..All words. ego and no substance.

Well said Henel.

I notice the Ruddites go very quiet when this topic is mentioned.

Unfortunately the bogans/troglydytes whose mind does not rise above football and beer, totally outnumber thinking people, and no prizes for guessing who they vote for.

For someone who is so clever you cannot spell Troglodyte.

You infer that anyone who votes Labor is a caveman who only understands football and beer and is from a lower class background (bogan).

I guess that means the majority of Australians fit that description.

If I may say so henel, you sound like an insulting bigot.

In reference to Tony Abbott's swimwear, Krudd had no right to make a comment. Many GREAT Aussie swimmers won lots of medals wearing the same. The ridiculous label, 'budgie smugglers' was probably invented by someone who watches the 'footy', drinks beer and doodles all over his vote paper.

Shame on you henel. You should be sent to Limbo for at least

10 minutes for making a spelling mistake on this forum.

Just fancy the bigoted audacity that it takes to describe a bogan

troglodyte as a bogan troglydyte. Shame, Shame!!!

BTW henel never said that Labor Voters are bogan troglodykes

henel inferred quite clearly that bogan troglodytes all vote Labor.

BTW again, most historians would not argue that Australia was

founded from the lower classes. We added to that in the 40s &

50s when we brought out the lower class dirt farmer Italians,

Czekoslovakians, Yugoslavs, Poles etc in massive numbers.

Australia has every right to be proud of having become the most

powerful & successful lower class Country in the World to-day.

I am proud of my lower class heritage & not in the least insulted

by anyone that accuses me of it.

Oh God Innes, you're off again.

BTW henel never said that Labor Voters are bogan troglodykes

henel inferred quite clearly that bogan troglodytes all vote Labor

Correct and well spotted.

On the illegals.

THE federal government is spending millions of dollars on private VIP jets to fly asylum seekers between Australia's detention centres.

With each of the specially chartered flights typically costing more than $100,000, the Department of Immigration has spent $5.6 million to March 15 this financial year on 45 flights.

That compares with $3.6 million on 48 chartered flights the year before, and $4.3 million on 119 flights in the previous two years, according to the department.

Julia Gillard, April 23, 2003.

Please explain toot2000. What do you mean I am off again.

Sorry Innes, no you didn't go off again, I didn't read your post to the end properly, I just got to the bit about lower class dirt farmers from Europe and panicked.
