Area for Chit-chat, not so serious topics etc

As requested, we have placed a few new topic headings so that we do not have a mix of everything in Hot Topics.

General discussion will be for a wide range of topics but mostly for chit-chat and less serious topics. Enjoy!

Thanks for your welcome - koko and PlanB.

I am into life-long learning. I do find that I get a lot of factual information from my fiction. I am the editor (volunteer) of a monthly newsletter for the seniors' complex where I live. I enjoy finding new topics for this every month. constantly on the computer researching new ideas for our residents - circulation only about 200. The April issue was a mini-travelogue on the back page - Searching for the Loch Ness Monster. I also enjoy finding cartoons for the joke page and doing quizzes. Sometimes the quizzes are competitions with small prizes which come from our Residents' Association. Don't know how this will work, but I'll try it to see if it comes out.

I like you love to learn--and there is so much to know--and the more you get to know the more you realise how much you DON"T know lol I am at the moment reading "The biggest secret" VERY interesting

Welcome Alexan. It is great we have this section to chat about anything.

Who wants to talk Politics or anything every post. Everything is good in small doses or rather everything is good for the person interested in what is being discussed. lets hope we can be silly and fun and mundane and even ridiculous here if we want in chit chat and keep the water boiling for a cuppa and a couple of Tim Tams for me and whatever everyone else likes. :)

We will not run around naked today though please as it is freezing here in Victoria especially down here in The Valley.

All the best folks

Phyl.

I like it..lol.

To Phyl and koko - glad you like it - I was never one who was afraid to ask a question - many people miss a great deal because they feel they will be considered "ridiculous" if they ask about something they think others will consider them stupid. I hope to hear from you what your favourite topics might be. Looking forward to some interesting "stuff".

Yes, as you say it is bit cold to be running around naked.

To PlanB - Is that the book "The Biggest Secret" By David Ick - It looks quite fascinating - I googled his web site. He seems to be quite a character. I also saw several of his books on Amazon.

Some of us can get to be a bit intense, but others of us just like the frivolous side of life. At the moment I am reading "Five drops of blood" - I like to read about the real life murders - the forensics they have used. My nephew is a detective in the forensics department of NSW. He laughs about the shows on TV - if only it could be that easy.

Yes Alex David Icke--I also have some of his discs--very interesting --and makes you think--I like to have different views on things and to get other opinions---

I really must look at the Amazon site for some of his stuff--they work out a bit dear to buy from his source

Well, how nice I am not the only one here reading David Icke.

Don't have any of his books or DVDs wish I had;

keep in touch through his website.

Isn't he coming to Melbourne sometime soon?

BevG - They say real life is stranger than fiction - I am going to see if I can get the book you mention. You may be interested in this one,

As you say "If it was only that easy".

must say however I do need my shot of fiction and fantasy. I love Sci Fi also and fantasy fiction.

PlanB and mara: Let me know what you think of the Icke book. I try to get those books I am interested in from the library. Much too expensive to buy everything I would want and no space either to shelf them. I do have a full collection of Kerry Greenwood books - her Phryne books including the latest Phryne and her Corinna Chapman books. Don't know if anybody else is a fan. They are great fun and she researches extensively so you learn a lot of factual stuff too.

I would think that would be an interesting job --but rather disturbing--I also like the CSI--I have heard that it quite true to life--although I am sure the crimes take a long time to solve

Did anyone else love the books written by Virginia Andrews? Flowers in the Attic and Sweet Audrina and every one of them in fact?

My Mum and Mum-in-law, and and my three young daughters and I, all waited for each of her books and enjoyed every one.

I did not think the movie as good as her book, Flowers in the Attic but I still watched it 3 times and would again.

SO Very sad she passed away as I am sure she had many more great stories for us all still to come out.

We get the time we are given so have to make the most of our own gifts.

I think we better keep our clothes on again today no bikinis unless where others are is warmer than here in The Valley. A slight frost last night and snow far away on the mountains and can be seen brrrr.

Phyl.

I haven't read those Phyl--are they fact or fiction ?

Quite different fiction Jane....

You can get Flowers in the Attic from the library. You could dislike it because it IS different but I think you would love it.

You need to read Flowers in the Attic 'before' any other of her books and once you do and if you love it, you will want more, :) but you need to read all her books in sequence.

You would think nothing made sense if you just picked any other one up out of sync.

Phyl. the dill....
