Annual super top up

Workers earning less than $37,000 per annum will receive an annual superannuation “top-up” of $500 per year
Win/lose?
Another win – sort of. Saving for your retirement is almost impossible when you are on a low income. This contribution will apply to nearly 3.5 million Australian workers, so that, in itself, is a bonus. But rather than encourage hard-pushed workers to lurch from handout to handout, why not give us an incentive to save this money on our own accord?

What do you think?

And retirees on less than $37,000.00 per annum???

Let alone those on the pension.

Thanks JustMe. I was thinking the same thing for those on superannuation pensions only. Let's not hold our collective breaths on that one.

Funny how things change.

During the "stimulus payments" debate low income was deemed to be - as per copy and paste quote below.

"People who earned $100,000 or less over the last financial year and lodged a tax return will automatically receive a payout.

The full payment of $900 will go to those whose income was $80,000 or less, while people who earned up to $90,000 will receive $600 and those who earned up to $100,000 will receive $250."

This was administered by Centrelink - who issue Low Income Health Care Cards - see link below.

Now if I'm not mistaken a low income health care card holder is living on less than half the above definition of low income earners.

AND, Centrelink issue HCC's and therefore have a list of who they send them to.

YET, how many low income health care card holders got a stimulus payment.

Did you see my hand go up???

We are more and more governed by over educated and under intelligent pollies and advisors.

And because politics is a bad joke.

nudge nudge wink wink say no more (Monty Python)

boom boom (Ugly Dave Gray)

According to Centerlink & the Taxation Dept., all aged pensions

are fully taxable. I presume, therefore that aged pensioners

earninga little over $16 1/2K are earning less than $37K & will

be able to open a Super A/C & receive their $500 top up.

God, I'm funny. I should be a commedian.

Hi Innes

You haven't read the fine print.

Especially the paragraphs not written yet to disqualify 99%.

It's called "Headline Politics".

Make a bold statement that gives hope to many.

Then sink the boot in with "conditions apply".

I may start a thread on "what do you like",

I'm getting sick of bad news and bad pollies, and bad ...............

Hi JustMe, I have just got to do something about these bloody glasses.

Good one - I love it.

Gotta like somethin' these days. May as well be our own brand of humor.
