How interesting Axel, really enjoying your stories, thank you.
Oh! Axel are you Christian's grand son/daughter? LOL
Yes I know that story and saw the video and have the book, I put it up on the other Animal Thread but I don't think anyone took any notice of it!
I think our paths have crossed along the way somewhere!!
Hubby has the same profession and live in Africa too! [smile]
He had a menagerie, but no Lions! LOL
I was very touched by the final scene where Christian came to the granite outcrop and saw his friends standing there and by now he was a big male lion and he came rushing towards them and lifted himself on one of the men's shoulders, that was so touching it made me cry!
Then later he encouraged the female lions to come to the outcrop and sit with him and his human friends, so very touching.
Of course the sight of junior Christian in the seat of a car being driven around London was a hoot! LOL
Here we are again for those interested Christian the Lion as a baby in London!
This next photo is of Christian on the out crop of granite
Thank you for bringing back these memories Axel!
Thank you RnR.
You and other posters always provide lots and lots of fascinating information.
Celia, thank you so much for putting up those delightful photographs of Christian and the young men.
Wonderful pictures in this new book.
I loved the cockatoo photo as well.
Find the photos of these birds fascinating especially the duck and his teeth!
Birds are absolutely stunning and they aren't "bird brains" either. So much has been studied about avian intelligence.

This looks like the same photo but someone has been playing about with the colours!

How delightful, thanks Celia.
I have to admit I could not understand your word 'delightful' RnR I had to get bubby to help out! It gets so frustrating when this happens, two steps forward and three back!
My grandfather, a civil engineer, moved to and worked in Africa for over 20 years. During that time he had a pet lion.
I suppose everyone knows about Christian the lion, purchased at Harrods as a cub by a couple of young men. A mutually devoted friendship occurred. They eventually took him back to Africa where he was successfully released. Returning for a visit some time later, they all renewed their friendship ... Christian was happy to see them once again.
