A reply to my email

I have a reply to my email to the ALP--the LIBs have not replied as yet--see below>>

Dear ________

Thank you for your email.

There will no penalty for owners of older vehicles that do not, or are not able to participate in the Cleaner Car Rebate Scheme.

In regard to pensions, the Gillard Labor Government has delivered the biggest increase to the single age pension in more than a hundred years with increases of more than $100 a fortnight in the age pension for singles and $76 for couples.

We have improved pension indexation so the pension keeps up with the rising cost of living. We have introduced a new Pensioner Living Cost Index that better reflects the basket of goods that pensioners buy, and have included this, along with the regular CPI and a benchmark to wages to the pension indexation formula. Federal Labor has also increased the single pension from 25 per cent to 27.7 per cent of Male Total Average Weekly Earnings, and will keep the benchmark at this higher level.

Federal Labor believes that the age pension is a foundation of Australia’s retirement income system. Three out of four Australians aged over 65 receive a full or part pension. The age pension needs to provide seniors with a decent standard of living, and that’s what our pension increase and changes to indexation will help achieve.

In addition, new measures to help pensioners with cost of living pressures have also been introduced with a $400 increase to the utilities allowance, a $500 bonus payment in 2008 and economic stimulus payments (of $1,400 for singles or $2,100 for couples).

Kind Regards,

Sounds really good doesn't it until you start to go into the whys and wherefores - but lets not argue as I know Plan B you are a Labor supporter - I am not.

I like the sound of a $76 rise for marrieds as I will have to find out where mine is as I am sure that when I check it will be missing in action - but then so many of Labor's lovely promises are just that. Missing in action. I will return on that shortly rofl..........sound like

MacArthur!

N.Martin is the No 1 Spin doctor for the ALP in 2010.

Trust this woman's word at your peril, you see this is the woman who is signing off on all the negative ads which tell lies and porkies and spin.

Like Abbott cut 1 billion off hospital spending. When he didn't - when what happened was that Treasury Estimates were 900 million more than the actual hospital spending for that period.

So it is lies and spin to say he cut it off when it just didn't get spent but was there in the estimates. And not a billion but 900 million.

Even more so when the man was not even the Minister for that period.

Anyone with commons sense knows that this is just nasty negative spin and a lie which makes the liars out to be not trustworthy to govern a country and they actually have proved that over the last 3 years.

Anyway why are you worried if you don't vote Labor and anyone with an old car doesn't vote Labor - no problem, Liberals are not socialistic but have enough common sense to know that if we all could we would own late model cars.

Mind you if Labor do sliver back in expect them to break the above word not to try to banish all old cars off the road. Labor has this way about them - punish the poor - old car running in leaded petrol - lets put 2c levy on every litre to make them trade up into a newer car. Or even before that take Bex off the shelves of the corner shop and into a pharmacy as a tiny few misused it

Did it work - not for me and when I did trade up it was into a 14 yr old car I could afford which is now 20 years old and I wont trade it as it has been well maintained and I have kept that up and invested a lot into making sure it stays alive as long hopefully whilst I do.

No Government will get away with banishing a car on age anyway.

Maybe try on roadworthyness but this is covered in some states by MOT.

Imagine all those veteran car clubs members wrath if they try!

Very true Val--my car is 25 years old but have had it since new and it is well maintained and done small mileage--As far as being a A Labor voter--not always--I vote for those that I think have the best pollicies--this time I feel like voting informal--not one of them impresses me at all

This is very important stuff PB, I wonder what Tony will do for us. Please publish their letter if they send you one, we need to know who is going to be the most generous. Job well done!

with increases of more than $100 a fortnight in the age pension for singles

More than $100 a fortnight? I would love to know where the majority of mine went to.

Thanks PlanB for showing us that.

I got well over $100 extra since labor has been in.

Better than anything previously I must say.

And it is good to see you got a reply for your trouble.

It will be interesting to see if you get one from the libs.

Here is the one that I got From Abbott--well from the Libs --anyway--he has called an election and is too busy to answer, it seems. Just more negative stuff from them--see below>>

Thank you for your recent email to the Leader of the Opposition, Tony Abbott.

As you may be aware, the Prime Minister has called a federal election.

Unfortunately, from Opposition, we do not have the resources to respond to your email in detail during the campaign period, but your concerns will be brought to Tony’s attention and that of the Coalition Team.

After three years of Labor Government failures, Australians now have a choice.

Broken promises, increased cost of living pressures, massive debt, a Budget deficit, waste and mismanagement and new taxes are all placing unnecessary pressures on Australians. Further, Labor have removed a Prime Minister quickly and ruthlessly, ignoring the wishes of Australian voters. But it is the same government with the same problems creating the same mess.

I hope you will get behind Tony in the weeks ahead as he seeks to stand up for Australia and take real action to end the waste, repay the debt, stop the taxes and ease the cost of living pressures on families.

If you would like to read more detailed policy information please go to www.liberal.org.au.

Ok lets look at those rises

Base Single Pension Married Pension Difference

Week F/Night Week F/Night Week/F/Night

Mar09 285 570 238 476 47

Sep09 308 616 232 ** 464 76* $152.

Mar10 322 644 243 486 79 $158

** base pension actually went down when they took off the GST Allowance given in 2000 by Howard and put over to new Pensions allowance and also this contains the Utilities Allowance, Pharmaceutical Benefits and Internet Allowance at the higher rate.

So the big rise was in September 2009 following the announcement in the May Budget of $30 a week for single pensions and $5 a week added to the new Pension supplement for married persons.

Lets look at this added together.

Pension Supplement from September 2009 when altered by Labor.

Now made up of GST taken off the base pension + Utilities allowance + PBS + Internet.

Single $57

Married $43

Difference = $14 a fortnight less for being married.

See how cunning they are - both lots in reality as they still lump the two married people together like they did in 1909 when married women did not work but since 1995 married women have been paid in their own right and most worked and paid taxes so paid for their pension and should not be discriminated against nor should the men come to that.

Sow how did we do

Singles went from $580 to $672 - up $92 a fortnight big rise

Married $479 to $506 - up $27 (x 2=$54)

Not exactly $100 and $76 is it

See spin and rhetoric

Can we trust Labor to ever tell the exact truth?

I don't think so.

Edited

I see Fwed is doing a Laborite spin and telling us porkies or he has a bit extra for sticking up and spinning Labor's web of deceit.

Singles went from $580 to $672 - up $92 a fortnight big rise

That would be ok but the present single rate is $701.10

Tony Abbott has urged his Coalition colleagues to support his call for the pension age to be lifted to at least 70. Tony said "I don't see it as unreasonable at all to raise the pension age, and it's not so much saying to people, work till you drop, it's saying to people we do not want to prematurely shut you out of economic participation in our society," he said.

"I mean this idea that you should study until you're 25, and then retire when you're 55 or 60 and then live effectively on the taxpayer for another 30 years it's not a recipe for a productive successful society into the future," he said.

In the Budget Labor announced a plan to lift the pension eligibility age to 67 by the year 2023 but that's not old enough for Tony, he wants you to work another 3 years. Imagine an old shearer who has worked hard all his life and Tony tells him, sorry mate, you've got to work another 5 years, what a joke. He would be well and truly knackered by then. Give me a break!

I see Fwed is doing a Laborite spin and telling us porkies or he has a bit extra for sticking up and spinning Labor’s web of deceit.

Singles get $644.20 plus $56.90 supplement which equals $701.10

Couples get $971.20 combined plus $85.80 combined supplement which equals $1057.

That is no porkie - best you get your facts straight.

Maybe IF Mr. Abbott started doing something for his cause instead of constantly

critisizing the Labour Party he would do a little bit better. He does seem to waffle on

with a lot of interjecting ums and arhs but nothing to encourage people to vote for him.

Yes I know we vote for the Party not the man.

You are spot on correct Fwed, we get exactly $1057.

I wrote b ack to the Libs telling them that I had had a reply from the Labor--and got the same email back

(3rd time same email) so I wrote another see below--

Dear Liberal party,

This is the 3rd same email I have received from you with the same old rubbish in it--NO answers NO policies just the same old negativity.

If this is what we can expect from the Libs why would I vote for them.

Regards and thanks for nothing for the 3rd time.
