A 'Freedom Day' poem
We received the following poeam, from YourLifeChoices member Sandra, which she wanted to share with her fellow members.
FREEDOM DAY
At last - “Freedom Day” has been declared
Our solitary life can now be shared
But wait, that’s not really true –
Not to be shared with many – just a few!
Three months since I had my second dose,
Eleven weeks of restrictions, staying really close
We’ve obeyed the rules and done the right thing
Anticipating the “life” that “freedom” would bring
So much had been hyped about “Freedom Day”
But really what’s offered is five weeks away!
We can go out, eat and drink – that’s cool
And yet still our children can’t go to school.
Some businesses won’t open, can’t make a go
Under restrictions the numbers are far too low
While in “The Hills” we top vaccination lists,
They’re still elusive, these freedoms we’ve missed.
“Freedom Day” announced, but as suspected –
It will not deliver all we had expected!
If you planned a holiday in the “Sunshine State”
You’d be very unwise to set a date!
And as for going to Mark McGowan’s west.
Then perhaps to plan for mid ‘22 would be best.
From isolated Tasmania, way down south
Rarely does Premier Gutwein open his mouth.
Finally, at last, it appears that Premier Dan
Has decided to follow our Gladys’ plan.
So, support our own state, we’ve done it tough
The time has come to say “enough is enough!”
The “Freedom Day” offers remain rather nebulous
And we were all hoping for something fabulous!
Like other “promises” offered, there’s ‘if’ and ‘but’
If Covid takes hold, then the door slams shut!
How have you spent your time in lockdown? Have you thought of trying your hand at some poetry?
That sure is a great poem
Thank you for sharing it with us
