A fourth Party to break deadlock???

Have any of the Political Pundits on here been at all
curious about the quiet demeaner of Malcolm Turnbull.
After being overthrown from the Party Leadership,
probably this, most able & extremely ambitious, individual
has accepted a plea to re-contest Wentworth & just sit
quietly by in the background, just to help the people who
deposed him. After getting a swing of over 10% with no
help from his Party, do you really think he is going to sit on
the back benches & vote on Party lines for a year or three?
Let me put forward a pretend scenario. Let us just say that
Malcolm were to defect from the Libs, where he has no future,
& form a new Party such as "The Australian Centralists"???
I am not sure about Bob Katter, but Bob Oakshotte & Tony
Windsor & probably Andrew Wilkie would jump on board.
This new Party would be able to do a deal with Labor or Lib.,
with Malcolm as the new Treasurer.
Just a dream?? Maybe not !!! Just watch this space.

innes, I agree with you, we need a strong Centralist political party,

One that is not dogmatic about governing for themselves but to

govern for the best outcomes, not just opposing everything for the

sake of opposing, Re Malcolm It would possibly be an uphill battle

for him to lead owing to his legacy of the big blunder he made

without investigating the accusation against Rudd, which proved

to be false. To be honest I cannot see any of todays politicians

being of the mettle that would be required to govern fairly and firmly

let alone honestly. They seem to be playing games with the voters.

I am sure there is good and bad politicians on both sides,

so far we only have seen the worst, with a win at any cost.mentality.

I'm excited Innes, that man is born for politics, even though I can't stand him.

Sure not off the cards Turnbull is way to smart to not be planning something--although he is not my cup of tea either.

There are more than four parties now.

I'm sure that there was about 10 on my ballot paper.

Liberals can not get in alone and have to have Nationals join them in the coalition.

We need to reduce to two major parties and vote for first choice only and cut of this silly second third fourth fifth.

We also need to rid of State governments and have instead a State Council in each State under the Federal Government.

This will save vast amounts of costs and the country will prosper with less rules/ regulations /taxes/public service/free loaders and other spongers.

Yes I agree and have been saying this for ages

We need to reduce to two major parties and vote for first choice only and cut of this silly second third fourth fifth.

So what I think you are saying PlanB is you prefer 'first past the post' voting over preferential.?

Have you considered the Libs would have bolted-in this past election?

Its only the Greens preferences that have kept Labor in it thus far.

Forming yet another party is a daft idea because they will only be minor players like Family First, the Democrats, the Nationals and the Greens, and only be noticed for their nuisance value.

Yes I think 1st past the post would be best and maybe also not making those have to vote that don't have an interest as they only make a mess of it as they couldn't care less?

I don't think you understand the current situation, Tanwin. The Family First

is all but gone, The Democrats have gone & if nothing changes, the Greens

will be effectively running Australia. That is way past being a nuisence. The

election of independants has no value unless you have a near, or hung

Parliament. If Malcolm Turnbull were to do what I suspect, he would, in

effect, take control of Parliament & open the door to the election of

Independants throughout Australia thereby changing the total political

arena, in this Country, forever.

If it is going to take this long to have these idiot Independents make up their mind, how many months will it take them to decide on any policy?

The way Oakshott keeps jumping in front of the cameras I think he nothing but a clown lapping up being the centre of attention for the first time in his miserable existence and not worthy of any votes.

Fortunately the people in the electorates pick who they want to represent them, not Tanwin.

The three independants were elected with a big majority in each of their electorates.

Each of them displays more common sense than the likes of Bill Heffernan & Barnaby Joyce.

Whichever way it goes, we are going to get a government which half the voters do not want.

If you are going to join in on politics mate do get your facts right and stop making an ass of yourself.

Only 2 - Tony Windsor & Bob Katter were elected on primaries.

The others are all on preferences.

So not the first democratic choice of the people of their electorates but in on 2nd 3rd or even 4th votes.

We should now go back to the decent system that got the Westminster hung Parliament out of it predicament in less than 2 days.

First past the post wins the seat - democratic choice.

No preferences as these are corrupting the process.

Non compulsory voting as many just don't want to use their vote.

And look at this last debacle - 14 million voters eligible to vote nut only around 11 million did and a growing portion of those informal suggesting deliberate.

Now the Electoral Commission has to I am told go to the Courts to actually fine an individual and how long will that take with up to 3 million who didnt show up?

Do they bother is the question really.

Edited one time.

If you are going to join in on politics mate do get your facts right and stop making an ass of yourself.

Thank you for the kind words, but as usual it is you who looks like the ass.

The 3 independants I referred to were Tony Windsor, Bob Katter and Robert Oakeshott.

Oakeshott got approx 10 thousand more votes than his nearest rival.

Tony Windsor won by approx 30,000 primaries.

Bob Katter won by about 14 thousand.

If you wish to discuss politics, make sure you know what you are talking about mate, LMAO

fwed Rob Oakshotte did not win in his own right. He won after getting the bulk of the Green preferences

Bob Katter won because he is a Queenslander. He wants either party to agree to what is the best for Queensland, and Australian, producers, mining, farming, manufacturing, etc:. Labor is the absolute minority in Queensland, Anna Bligh continues to 'stuff things up". A new tunnel, which is not wanted is in debt by 1.5 billion dollars. Another Labor 'BIG LOSS'. Queenslanders told Julia, and Labor to stay out of Queensland.

Anna Bligh wants to sell off every asset owned by the PEOPLE. The 'you beaut' desalination plant is decrepit before it is up and running. The re-cycled 'solution to water shortage" sewage water has been poured down the drain.

Labor and Green programmes both major and minor continuously fail due to the 'We Know Best ' attitude.

Even Bob Brown did not have any scientific facts when he started flogging his Marine Parks agenda, and his National Parks agenda. Even indigenous primitives knew how to nurture the land and the sea. In reality, the GREENS should be run by our indigenous people, not the waffling, know nothing tree-huggers which we now have to tolerate.

Will there ever come a time when politicians are able to understand what every apprentice tradesman is taught....DO IT ONCE, DO IT RIGHT.
